We're back!

We had a great time on our trip. We started out in San Francisco and flew to Copenhagen, Denmark for a few days. Here's Cambria with the Little Mermaid statue.

From there we took the Regent Seven Seas ship to Visby, Sweden.
Next we stopped in Tallinn, Estonia.
Then we were off to Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Next was Stockholm, Sweden.
And finally on to Bjerribro, Denmark.
We're all still tired and are now glad to have our luggage after a day delay. The ride home lasted longer than we planned and we missed our connection in Seattle after a 2-hour delay in Copenhagen. It was a very long 27 hour return with an almost-2 year old. Cambria was a great traveler and we were happy to have help from the family. I'm looking forward to getting back to our schedule and back to my sewing!

Sick Baby

Well, I was up all night with a sick baby. I think she has the flu and is currently asleep on the floor. (No day care today. So much for getting ready for our big trip and the spa apt I had. There's always tomorrow. I can always work on the quilt instead!

We had fun yesterday in the pool with our former neighbors - two boys and a new baby girl for Cambria to play with.

This past weekend was spent on the boat with Teresa & Tony (friends from Fresno) and Brad & Lisa (former manager). We got up close to San Quentin Prison and got a bit to eat at Bobby's Fo'c'sle at the Loch Lomond Marina in San Rafael.

WIP - Quilt

Cambria and I made peach cobbler this evening while Daddy was on his way back from San Diego. I had some help with the topping. You can see the evidence on the face of the topping napper below! We're planing on taking out the boat on Saturday with Teresa/Tony ans my former manager at HP. Should be fun! I'm also planning on going here. Just over an hour to go! (Yes, Tannin still smells like a skunk!)

I've been working on a quilt to hang on Cambria's wall. Here are the first 3 squares.

July 4th

We had a great 4th of July at the coast in Aptos. The fireworks are always amazing! Cambria had fun saying "boom boom" when they went off. She was too tired to make it through the entire evening.

After our quick trip we came home to a dog who apparently tangled with a skunk! (She still stinks after daily bathes!) Todd said the smell can last for months. I hope not. I guess they don't recommend tomato juice anymore. Here's the new secret recipe. I'm getting to be a professional at mixing it up and washing the dog. Maybe we'll just keep her inside from now on...

Russia here we come!

We're 30 days away from our European cruise. We will be spending 3 days in St. Petersburg, Russia. Cambria now has a Russian nesting doll (matryoshka) outfit she can wear. I'm not sure how well I like it. The fabric is pretty bright! I also started working on a wall-hanging quilt for her room. Here's the pattern. (It's the second one on the top row.) I have the blocks put together and will start on the hand stitching tomorrow after we pick up some batting. Daddy's fishing so it's just us 3 girls for the weekend.

Some technical difficulties and Grand(pa) Marshall

Ok so after a lot of work and after reading through a lot of tutorials (the best ones being this one and this one) I finally think I have this shirring thing down. (My trouble turned out to be user error with my sewing machine!)

We're getting ready for the big parade in King City on July 4th. Cambria's great grandpa will serve as the Grand Marshall. You can read all about it here.
Our good friends are scheduled to have their third baby on Saturday. I made her a blanket, diaper/wipes bag, and another little bag. I hope they enjoy them!

I also made a dress from my own pattern (yes, I tried again with similar unfavorable results) and a pair of pants we wore to a birthday party on Sunday. The dress is wearable but I guess I know where the issues are!

Peep...

Here's the latest outfit for the little chicken.... (I didn't make the pink polo, just the white one with the bird on it.) The bows in the back of the shirt need some help. I'll have to work on it. It started out as a regular shirt and then Cambria's head was too big (or maybe the hole in the shirt was too small!), so I cut the back and added the bows. That'll teach me to make up my own pattern.
Cambria now has new clips for her collection. We're going on the boat tomorrow so now she'll have whale clips to got with her whale outfit. I'll take some pics. There sure has been a lot of whale talk around the area lately - maybe we'll see some! (The picture quality isn't very good - sorry.)
